timing marks

I'm replacing the water pump and timing belt after car stalled and would not restart. Water pump pully and bearing went out and caused side of belt to get chewed up and smoke. Torn it down but didn't mark or make any reference marks prior to tear down. Now I'm putting it back together with a new water pump, idler roller, and new belt. I'm confused about how to exactly set the timing marks before I button it back up.

This requires a fairly complex answer Handyman. Your car is one of the most popular cars in the world from a sales standpoint and you should be able to go to your local library and check out the Chilton's manual that covers the 83-96 Camry's. You'll find procedures for setting the timing for your 1986 1MZ-FE engine on page 1-25. Good luck
