i change my battery and now the check engine light is on, how can i reset

i recently change my battery and now the check engine light is on.  there was no problem
with the check eng light until i replaced the battery

Disconnect the battery for about a half hour. That will clear the codes. Just don't leave the key in the ignition when you do that.
