why is there oil on drivers side of a dodge ram 1500?

im thinking about buying a 1999 ram 1500 and on the drivers side of the motor
and frame and oil pan is covered in what looks to be oil, has anyone had this
issue if so can you give me feed back!

Could be a leaking valve cover gasket. Have a mechanic inspect it before buying.
