Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My truck has 56,000 miles and started making an engine tapping noise. It stops in 5 minutes, and has is mainly happening when it's cold. I live near Boston MA.  My mechanic says it a stuck lifter. He says not to worry about it. It drives me crazy. Is there a simple fix? Is there anything that I should worry about?

Lifters after sitting for a period of time will cause the springs inside the lifters to weakn. Also if the rocker arms were adjusted to tight & that causes them to callapse. Easiest fix wolud be to rent or buy a lifter remover tool. You may still have to take the intake off but try it b4 you do.

I would suggest renting a lifter puller tool & replace them all. Also when your done with the tool they allow you to get your cash back, just dont break it! LOL
