Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1999 Chevrolet s10. At time it runs great
but I'll be going down the road the battery light
comes on and the truck loses power. Sometimes
the battery light it stays on until I get to where I'm
going and sometimes it will cut off going down the
road and the truck gets power back. I have to
barely mash the gas to get it to go if I give it more
gas it bogs down and sometimes back fires

Sounds like you have a problem with the charging system. The battery could be old and shorted. So the battery and alternator should be checked. This would have to be checked and fixed to see if it has anything to do with it bogging down. That could be another issue. Should have the vehicle scanned for codes, and if there are any write them down for further assistance.
