Asked by Christopher Jul 17, 2015 at 02:28 AM about the 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer LT 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

He took it to the local shop and the
mechanic than poured 3 quarts of
trans fluid in it when it already said
full and than drove it and came back
and told my buddy it smelled burned
up and wanted to charge him $2500
to fix it... My question is it the shifting
modulator or a solenoid inside the
trans.it self... Plz help with any advise
and location of shifting modulator for
this 02 trailblazer or any advise on
how a guy can check out and
correctly diagnosis his problem ..
Thank you.
Christopher.

Did you see the burnt fluid? Did I read that correctly, your transmission dipstick read full and they added fluid anyway? That doesn't make any sense. Could be a shift modulator or speed sensor? How many mile are on your vehicle? Does it neutralize between 1st and 2nd, usually the most telltale sign of problems. You would be wise to get a second opinion.
