Car won't start

I bought a Chevrolet Malibu last week. It's a 2002
and it won't start at all. It doesn't crank, the doors
won't even lock from the remote... there have been
a few times when the key would get stuck in the
ignition and I'd have to leave it and come back..
could that be the issue.. the key is not in the ignition
now but the car is completely off and not doing
anything
