key pad code

Asked by MickB79 Sep 10, 2016 at 08:38 AM about the 2003 Ford F-150 Lariat Crew Cab 4WD SB

Question type: General

I recently purchased a 2003 Ford F150,
Lariat, Crew Cab, 5.4 ltr.,  4wd., off road
truck. There was no owner's card with it.
The dealer wants $40 to use the computer
to retrieve the code, but I have heard that
the code can be found somewhere in the
vehicle. Unfortunately, I have been told it is
located in several different places. Due to a
back injury, it is difficult for me to crawl
around to locate it without a clear idea
where to look. Does anyone else have this
vehicle and knows where the key pad code
is located? It would be a huge help for me.
Thank you.

Every Ford I've ever bought (mostly at auctions) has had a keyless entry code sticker pasted on a module under the dash. Some are easy to read, some are so far up under there you have to be a contortionist to see it. The trick I learned is to use a digital camera w/flash to snap pictures up under the dash, just point it around randomly and take pics, then scan those pics for the code sticker. (usually white sticker w/ black numbers)

Thank you so much , Ken F. Using a digital camera is a great idea. Do the stickers tend to be on the passenger side or driver side or can they be on either? Thanks again!

On my Expedition, passenger side, above right kick panel. On the F150, check your owner's manual, they have a card insert with the code (if you still have the manual), I think it may by posted on the module on the driver side to the left of the pedals on the firewall.

No manual came with my truck. I got a manual on ebay. All it said about the code is to go to a dealer to have them tell you. (And of course they will...for $40.) Thank you for your answer; this way I know where to check first.
