Help me with my Cavalier not starting.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have an 02 Cav that almost daily gives me trouble starting. Sometimes I put the key in and it starts right away no problem, other times I have to mess with turning the key many times for 10-15 mins and eventually it will start.
When its not starting it doesn't turn over or anything, I think I hear the fuel pump come on, and I can hear something at the fuses like a clicking.
Would this be an ignition lock issue or something else.

Have you changed tour battery? The battery is the most inportant thing to start a car. An old battery can sometimes give you power to start and other times it is just dead as a rock.

My battery is less than a year old, and the connections look good and are tight.

Had similar problem and it was my ignition switch. If you wiggle the key as you turn the car on and it starts every time, that could be your problem. Another sign that it is the ignition switch is that as you drive the light inside may turn on as the key shifts when you drive.
