What causes digital odometer to read error?

Does the display show Error 3 or just Error. If it shows just Error replace the instrument cluster. "Error 3", the conversion constant needs to be re programmed. Press and hold "reset" button on speedometer; turn key to "Run" and release "Reset" button Display should read " E 08 6" - E means English units/o means overseas units; 08 is ROM level and 6 is the number of times the conversion constant can be reset 6 is maximum attempts, It will be locked out after 6 resets and cluster will need to be replaced. Regards
