Sounds like the fuel tank switch is bad where it mounts on the frame. Between the tanks there is a switch that physically transfers fuel feed from one tank to another. These often become corroded and inoperative. However, someone may have disconnected the second tank for some reason, like a leaking tank or other problem.

Raymond, I got a 96 5.0 and the rest doesn’t work either... when I switch to the back tank, even when it’s fueled up... it just stutters and dies like it’s not getting fuel... fuel tank pump???
