what do i do to get code of my toyota

Take it to Autozone or probably any parts dealer they will check the code for free.

Most Likely it's a failed O2 sensor. Take it to a garage that can read the codes.

Check engine light can come on for any reason (even something like the gas cap not being on tight enough). A garage might charge you to read the code. Where as autozone, o reily, advanace, etc will read it for free and tell you exactly whats wrong.
