can you put a 350 in a 2005 impala ls

My 3.8 keeps overheating so I plan to do a engine swap. I like to go fast so I
kind of want to put a 350 in it if its possible. My unkle is a mechanic and likes
to joke around alot. He told me I kud jus "put it in there sideways" lol an idk if
he joking or not. Please let me know sumthing.

No. The 350 is a longitudinal engine, that the output is in the rear of engine and transmission behind, with a driveshaft to rear. Your 2005 3.8 is transverse. Front wheel drive. Sorry no can do. Your uncle is pulling your chain

Your Impala came with a V6 transverse mounted, front wheel drive. You'd be better off going with the 5.3L (325) from a 9th generation Impala.

But hold on!..overheating is no reason to jump all the way to new engine. Your 2005 probably has lots of life left, thermostat for starters...then radiator flush..so much more also. If you have money trade it in for a Camaro or 'Vette if you 'like to go fast' A 2011 Camaro ss 426HP 6.2L

Putting a 350 in your car is "possible", but not practical as it would cost thousands of dollars to do a conversion to rear wheel drive. I think your uncle is pulling your leg just a little. Maybe concentrate on getting the overheating problem fixed instead. Thermostat, radiator and water pump are a few places to start investigating.
