Hello Patti- Your all-wheel-drive 2004 Toyota RAV4 should be getting 22 miles per gallon in the city and 27 miles on the highway. Estimates are the same for cars with automatic and manual transmission. Go for the two-wheel-drive and you could go as high as 24 city and 30 highway. Official government mileage estimates for any car you are interested in can be found at www.fueleconomy.gov. I hope we helped. Good luck from Bovan.

I own a 2003 L (front wheel drive) but it only gives me like 25 miles in highway. I was told that I could get 28 but I never did, even when I drove it from IL to ME. Is there any thing i could do to boost mileage. Meanwhile my car repeatedly shows that there is cylinder misfire. Toyota service centre guys say that they could not find anything wrong with the car for having the cylinder misfire. And also my car kind of races for like couple of minutes when the car is parked for like 3 hours. Some people told me that it is normal with RAV4. Any suggestions?

A really great site is called Fuelly.com You can look up any car or motorcycle and they have actual people who log in and enter mileage on those vehicles.
