Hello macca-- Your RAV4 takes 4 quarts of oil (officially 4.1 quarts.) Good luck from Bovan.

According to the manual from Toyota, a 2014 RAV4 holds 4.6 quarts. The 4.2 is without an oil filter-not sure why they list that. If you are only putting in 4.1 quarts and I am assuming you have an oil filter attached, you are running a half quart low which I don't think any qualified mechanic would recommend.

My Rav 4 holds exactly 4.6 quarts with a wix filter. But when I used a Fram filter, 5.0 quarts. Any body know why. The Fram has a rubber top. Does that hold oil in the engine?
