What would be a reasonable offer for my car trade

I don't want to give in on a very
low trade in value for my car. Is
there a middle?

You won't get much at all for a 17 year old car. If you sell it yourself you should get more.

A car dealer will only offer you $500, you can sell it outright yourself for $2000 to 2500 if it is clean.
