my petrol 3f motor splutters towing up hills why is this so ?

when was the last time you replaced the fuel filter? Under the greater load and higher fuel flow, a plugged filter will restrict fuel flow thus causing the engine to sputter

I looked at it while waiting for an answer and it looked brown so i replaced it, i just use the cheap plastic ones, at least you can see when they are dirty. I will have to give it a test next time i tow, in the next couple of days. Thanks for the reply i'll let you know how it goes.
