I just got a 2008 Chevy Cobalt 9 days ago. It was doing fine up until the 7th day, got in it too go to work soon as I crank up a light with a car and lock came on and I lost power and all my lights and gas mileage was going crazy.. I took it too a mechanic shop, they could not even get it to pull a code.so, they intested my battery which was good. Then they tested my alternator, No charge at all. Replaced alternator, now the car/lock light went off, I got my power steering back, also it runs way better than it did!!! I thought it was strange that a new alternator fixed this problem. But I'm thankful that it did!!

Its not in the manual, first off, Mine came on when I turned the car off and stated again, it went out. It was a car with a pad lock in it. I've never seen it before.

Our 2009 Cobalt did the same. It’s like the engine totally seized up. Had to have it towed. Dealer says it’s a voltage issue. Threw all sorts of voltage codes. Hoping this fixes the problem.

I took my 2010 Cobalt to a mechanic & he didn't find the problem I had but made it worse. The anti theft lock is on with low fuel & power steering lights as well (they weren't on before) then I put $10 gas but it doesn't read it. The RPM nor MPH meter are working. I was able to turn on the car with the lock on but if I turn it off, it takes a long time to turn back on. Could it be an electrical issue (electrical mechanic said it wasn't last time he checked it) I've been to 6 mechanics & they all hate my car lol..any tips??
