2001 Toyota Camry cranks but won't start.

I have an '01 Camry CD that recently took a crap. I
was driving down the road and noticed my car
seemed to lose some power in the engine for a
brief moment, rpm dropped but quickly came back
to normal. I drove for a few more blocks and it
started losing power again, but worse this time. I
felt as if I let my foot off the gas pedal it would just
die rolling down the street. Well, I came to a stop
light and what do you know, it died. My first
thought was fuel related (pump, filter, etc.) I have it
towed to my father's transmission shop and him
and I bounce ideas off each other as to what it
could be. Tried starting with starting fluid and it
didn't even try to fire, so we ruled out a fuel issue.
Pulled the plugs to test for spark. We found that
the coil that fires cylinders 1 & 4 would spark with
and orange flame once and then not spark again,
no matter how much you cranked it over. The coil
that fires 2 & 3, however, fired with a blue flame
every time. As it should. We weren't sure if it would
fix the problem, because it didn't even try to start
with starting fluid, but we put new plugs, wires and
both coils. Tried again, same problem persisted.
After reaching out to a friend, who owns a shop for
electrical auto repairs, and testing a few more
things. Compression, looked for marks to check
the timing (couldn't find any) and a few other
things. We came to the conclusion it must be the
ECM. We replaced that and the problem still
persists. Now we're up to date. I've read about
camrys having timing issues. But if the timing were
off the cylinders wouldn't build compression, and
they do. Any tips would be appreciated.

Does anyone have an answer to this question? The same thing just happen to me with my 2000 Camry LE tonight. My Bat light and oil light are both staying on continuously.

We didn't do a compression test with a gauge. My dad stuck his thumb in the spark plug hole and had me crank it over and it definitely has compression.
