Cruise Control Not Working!

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My cars cruise control does not work. The cruise light comes on but you cant
set cruise control. I've checked the fuses and looked over the linkage and
vacuum lines but I don't really know what i'm looking for. the weird thing is
when you hold the acc (accelerate) switch down, the engine RPM changes. I
don't know what is wrong or how to fix it as everything looks like it should be
working. I have changed the brake light switch at the top of the brake pedal. I
don't know if that has anything to do with it or not but I figured I'd mention
that I did it. Any help you can give is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
