Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Had two different mechanics say the catalytic converter needs replaced. I replaced both times and the light still stays on. I went to a Chevy delership the third time and they diagnosed it and wrote a work order of what needs to be changed. I replaced what they said needs replaced which were the spark plugs, Ign coil module and fuel filter. After about 100 miles the engine check light came back on. I am lost on the cause any help would be appreciated.

I actually have a '07 Cobalt, and have the same issue the engine light likes to stay on. I have had it checked many times, replaced a few items and nothing did the trick. Finally went to a private garage and asked them about it, they said that it has something to do with the way the car was built. I believe he said it was either the catalytic converter or the transmission which wasn't properly responding to the computer. I've gotten both checked out, both passed... it's still on now after 110,000 miles.

I've had my 2006 Chevy cobalt checked by chevy dealers and independent mechanics both. No codes come up, but ever since I bought the car, the light has been coming on for no apparent reason. It has always passed inspection. I'm hoping it still does as the light has been on for more than s month now. There is still no code when I had it checked. I now have over 135,ooo miles on it. I have to have it checked this month, so let's keep our fingers crossed. I bought the car brand new in 2006 and have had regular maintenance done on it, tune ups and oil changes , etc. And it still runs great , but the light us driving me nuts.
