98 Montero Sport no crank no start

I have an interesting problem that started
with my car dying while driving....yada
yada yada heres the short version.

Bran new battery (confirmed bad) and a
new Mass Air Flow unit....still no start so
took off alternator to be tested. IT was
ALSO bad. so i just finished installing new
alternator.    **fairly new starter (within
last 6mos)

Turn key, it didnt crank or try
Didnt click. Just made a high pitched
whine/buzz sound (fuel pump trying to
engage? except it sounded like it came
from the front. not behind me)  

I started inspecting to make sure i plugged
everything in etc.    And found THIS. which
i didnt see til now. and ive been doing a lot
of work under hood so thats weird)

my question is. wtf is this to? fuel injectors? is this my only problem? can i just stick that back in and like tape it tight?

    Changed the crank an cam sensors, it cranks but no start, can’t hear the fuel pump come on with key but if I bypass the relay it comes on but no spark
