Hard shifts can be a few different issues or may be no issue at all if the previous owner installed a high stall kit specifically to increase the firmness of the transmissions shifts. Take it to a transmission shop for adjustments. idling rough when hot means over heating. Completely remove and replace the coolant. If the inside of the radiator is coated with fluoride, replace it. If the fan clutch and coolant thermostat are over ten years old, replace them.
