Blown engine on a Lexus sc430
I have a 2003 Lexus Sc430 with around 114k miles when the engine blew. It
cost a little over 10k to have the engine replaced. I was told by the dealer
that this particular vehicle can get 225-250k miles. The Lexus dealer who I
believe was negligent denies any wrongdoing. Anyone out there who has had
similar issue? Perhaps I should go to corporate?
I had the same issue with my 2002 at 125k miles. Driving on highway, temp gauge went to 0, couple of miles, lost power and it was all over; except for spending 5k on salvage engine with same miles. Have no idea what happened.
Without knowing exactly why the engine failed it is impossible to say who if anyone is at fault. Odds are the failure was related to neglect.
These engines require timing belt replacement at 100,000. Don’t do it, and by 125,000 you are being towed. My SC has 200K, LS Has 250K, and I sold a great running GS430 with 385K. The GS was capable of 140mph plus with over 380K
