I'm not familier with the Lexus but most vehicles have a 3-way switch on the light On-Off-Door or they have an override button on the dash. Try looking for the switches and check the bulb. They do burn out.

Since it lights when you push the button, it's not the fuse. A 1999 Lexus, 15 years old, from thousands of open/close cycles on the door it's either the switch or the wire harness from switch to PDB (Power Distribution Box). If you are a DIY person, take the switch out of the door jamb and use a wire to jump across the connections on the switch. If it lights...there you are, failed switch. Replace it. If it still does not light up, then there is a broken wire somewhere between the switch and the PDB.

Good morning yetilikesbeer...I was still typing when you answered, but he (she?) said it works when the button in the fixture is pushed, so it's not the bulb
