4 wheel drive steering

when in 4x4 full time and i try to turn sharply like backing out of a driveway  my
steering gets stiff and jerks back and forth until i straighten my wheel. possibly
needs an alignment? cant think of anything else it could be.

That is normal for the 1992-1998 Jeep Grand Cherokees because they had All Time Four Wheel Drive. All the wheels are trying go the same speed/distance all the time but can not during turns on hard, dry surfaces, where it's most noticeable. It's tough on tires and the drive train. But nothing is wrong. Later year Jeeps don't do that because the Quadra- Trac, Select-Trac , and Quadra-Drive systems allowed for differential of wheel speeds (except in low range).

I have 04 does same thing , best vehicle I've ever owned. Had a few 4 wheel vehicles jeep is best
