Will a lift be needed on my 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4 if I go to larger rims and tires?

Question type: Car Customization

I want to put on 16 inch rims mounted with LT245/75R16 tires.  Overall diameter is 30.5 inches. Section width of the tire is 9.8 inches.   Will I need to lift my vehicle to add this wheel/rim combination?   If so, how much lift will I need? Thanks, Stan

ya either a lift or a fender flare kit. you might be able to get away with a budget boost lift which are really cheap compared to other lifts. im running 31s and i got a 3.5in lift with plenty of space. the fender flare cut out kits also an option. google for prices

you can probably get away with just trimming the fenders i work at a tire and wheel place ive seen some big stuff fit on jeeps

you could do a small body lift if your going to be a wimp and not just do a suspension lift like a man.

You actually can do a lift on a Grand Cherokee, but the only reason you might have to make some adjustments, would be because of inner fender rubbing, which you could adjust with wheel spacers, but that is up to you. Don't use wheel spacers, if you plan on going off roading, and beating on your jeep.

I've been looking into the same thing for a while. I have stock 2000 GC with quadratrac 2 and tires are 145/70/16. I'd like to move up to 155/75/16 just to get a little more width and height, but the whole death wobble thing is scary to me. My wife drives the car sometimes and I don't think that would go over well. So I'm trying to avoid the lift, but wondered if anyone had an issue with a 2" leveling kit. I don't want to have to swap out drive shafts.
