My truck turns over but wont stay running?

Need more info. Assuming it's a Vortec not diesel. It starts, how long will it run for. Does it stall faster if you start it and give it some gas. Sounds like the fuel pump. My brothers just went, it's quite the job. I would rule everything else out before tackling that. If you have or can borrow a fuel pressure tester (gauge with addaptor) the test port is towards the back of the engine on the drivers side. Is it a early model or late model 98. I can't remember which VIN is which. The pumps are different.
