Check engine light

Asked by Todd Mar 23, 2019 at 12:41 PM about the 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser Limited Wagon FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was able to take care of all the codes except one. It reads
Error Code P1697 PCM Failure-SRI Miles Not Stored.
When I researched this more, this is what I got...
Definition: ECM fault-Service reminder indicator mileage not stored.
Explanation: An attempt to update the vehicle mileage in the EEPROM failed.
Probable Causes: 1. ECM defective 2. Mileage incorrect in service reminder
module 3. Instrument cluster mileage incorrect
If someone can explain this to me in layman’s terms, it would greatly be
appreciated.
