2005 ford taurus

Asked by Chrissy Jun 07, 2018 at 02:20 AM about the 2005 Ford Taurus SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2005 ford taurus. Recently it would not go
faster than 20 MPH unless I have it floored. And
even once I get it past 20 it shakes really bad and
makes a horrible sound. Chamged the plugs and
wires thinking that would fix it but it didnt. The
mechanic said it sounds like a misfire on cylinder
1. Almost like it is stuck open. I really have no idea
what that means and I don't know how much it will
cost to fix it. What could be wrong?

Have you tried another coil? Would have the codes read if not done already. Hopefully it's not an internal mechanical issue. Good Luck!

This happened too my husband after he bottomed out going up a highway. After that it wouldn't go past 40mph with flooring it. There is a donut looking ring that needs to be replaced underneath.
