06 explorer Eddie Bauer edition

Asked by AnaBananaz Aug 13, 2018 at 12:45 PM about the 2006 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer V6 4WD

Question type: General

I am in the process of purchasing an 06 explorer.
The test drive went beautifully (yes i push hard on
a test drive to listen for noises and the feel of the
drive). It had 1 owner very well maintained but it
does have 195k on it, and I've never owned a ford.
The price is 4500, and I'm a little nervous with the
miles being so high as Im a single mother on a
budget. Is it worth me buying????

Bring the vehicle to a reliable shop you trust. Tell the owner what your intentions are and have him check it out. He'll know what to look for. Request the shop pay particular attention to the transmission and determine if the fluid has been changed recently. Shouldn't cost more than a hundred bucks or so for a good mechanic to check things like exhaust, AC, brakes, etc.
