Crown Victoria Ignition switch broken/stuck in on position

Asked by RGib21 Jul 08, 2019 at 01:22 PM about the 1996 Ford Crown Victoria 4 Dr LX Sedan

Question type: Car Customization

After getting off of work , I got in my crown Victoria
and when to crank it up and “ Boom” , this ignition
switch broken on me and is stuck in the on
position . I tried replacing the old iginiton switch
with anew one but  but it was no success . The
switch would not fit back in it’s original place .
Surprising it will still crank and catch perfectly fine
but I can’t turn my off the regular way , I have too
pop my hood and take the battery cable off just
too turn car off . I was told was going to change
the entire steering column but  with this car being
a 1996 , it’s hard going to the salvage yard or pull a
part to find the part . I m really out of ideas at this
point , Any Solution?????
