Probably an ignition problem. Take and have the coil and the ignition control module tested at an auto parts store. Check the cap and rotor, along with spark plugs and wires also.

I had a car that did that while on interstate, it was going into safe mode cuz one of the fans wasn’t engaging so the car was getting too hot but we weren’t aware cuz it didn’t display high temps…
