what happens when 5 gal of unleaded is put in my empty 6.6 duramax and driven 10 miles

Get the tank flushed out. It ran because of the residual diesel you had in the tank. You may even have to flush out the entire system and put in new filters. It happens often enough that dealers know how to correct it. It will cost you, but chances are you didn't ruin the engine. Good luck on getting it started. If you can, have it towed to the repair station as the gas will not ignite and get into the oil pan.
