Knocking noise

Asked by Dennisc67 Jan 28, 2017 at 08:22 AM about the 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Extended Cab Stepside 4WD

I have a knocking noise when I start up and after 3
to 5min the noise goes away.  It doesn't matter if is
cold or hot outside.  Please give me some advice
on what to check for.

Have the oil pressure checked with a mechanical gauge to make certain you have proper oil pressure.

Also it is possible that you have an exhaust leak at the manifold that seals itself when the engine warms up and the parts expand.
