What do I have to turn the key and hit the altinater to start my 2000 chevy 1500 with 5.3

Dash lights up new starter new altinater and new battery
this doesn't happen all the time but when it does o have to
hit the altinater and turn the key at the same time. Everyone
I ask this question too thinks I'm crazy need help

It's possible and actually kind of common to get a bad alternator when buying an aftermarket one from a parts house. You can check to see if it's charging with a multimeter or take it to about any parts house and they can make sure it's charging for you. Sounds to me like it's either that or a short somewhere. Those clusters are notorious for shorting out or going completely out. Good luck.
