HVAC Blower not running

10

Asked by GuruH5G36 Jul 06, 2019 at 11:20 AM about the 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo LS FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

HVAC blower stopped running.  Replaced resistor, but that didn't solve the
issue. Blower motor tested OK when 12 volts were applied. Disconnected
wires going to motor and checked voltage at red wire going to resistor with
12 volts present with the ignition switch on. 12 volts were present at red wire
coming to resistor but dropped to 0-2 volts when test light was touched to red
wire terminal. It also did this with the climate control disconnected. Fuses
seemed to test OK. Any ideas?

Relays in the fuse panel were interchanged and the climate control which includes the fan switch was disconnected and there was still a voltage drop at the red wire coming to the resistor when a test light was applied to the red wire connection. Could there be another relay or switch affecting this?
