1994 Ford Explorer overheating
So my boyfriend's 1994 explorer keeps overheating and originally there was
smoke coming from the engine once the engine temperature dial would go
past the H, however we got the radiator replaced and the heater control valve,
and the engine is still over heating and just hovering around the high temp end,
the coolant doesn't seem to be leaking and the car has stopped smoking,
however the engine should not be running this hot still, any advice on what
could be causing this problem?
Have you checked the oil dipstick?? Do you have a chocolate or vanilla shake "color", on the oil dipstick instead of oil?? Also you said smoke from the tailpipe... What color?? Is it or was it white?? P.s. Do you have heat in the vehicle?? Does it work... I'm assuming head gasket if yes...
Stuck thermostat or using straight water as coolant ( bad move). Anti freeze is designed to tolerate heat. Also it wouldn't hurt to check your temperature control sensor. For a 94 I would just replace it.
