call a local reputable mechanic in the area and work out a deal for them to inspect it for you. Some places will do it, obviously be ready to pay for that service. You will also need to pay to transport it, depending on distance it can be $500-$2000.

Most cars are sold as-is, just remember if you buy it and you are not happy with it, you will have virtually zero recourse on the deal. Better to wait for a local deal to pop up... not worth the risk in my personal opinion
