Best in snow

Asked by GuruVCXD7 Aug 19, 2018 at 04:55 PM

Question type: General

I live in an extremely  rural area of minnesota and
will be driving 180 miles every day to work! I know
nothing of vehicles. I need the vehicle that will get
me through horrendous snow the best. Good gas
mileage would help, and I only have $25,000 to
spend. I also don't care about anything else but not
getting stuck so I don't need any bells or whistles.
I've read so many reviews and see no consistancy.
I'm leaning towards a suburu Forrester, or a jeep.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Look at Subaru's. You should be able to get one for under 25 grand. Do your homework on Subaru issues such as the CVT and oil consumption. The Impreza's start out at $19k and are rated at 38 mpg highway.

Just a comment. I have driven in a lot of snow and have commuted crazy distances like that but if I had to do that distance in snow all winter long I would quit or move.

Lets see, 180 miles a day, carry a 1 and add a 5 plus 6 and the total is..... Hmm, that Subaru ought to last about 6 months. I'd move, there will be days when you will not be able to get to where you work.
