The Subaru is AWD, and handling is much sportier than the Civic..
Subaru Imprezza is a four door sedan....yes, the WRX STI would be a super expensive insurance item. I was not recommending that. I suppose if you want to go for just straight reliability and low cost, yeah, get the Honda Civic.
Also, purchase the newest car you can afford...car reliability is more tied to age than mileage....yes, Honda, Toyota or Subaru are all excellent choices...
