How are Taxes & Fees calculated in Virginia
Are dealer fees included in the total taxable amount of a vehicle, or are they
added on after?
Example, car is 35,000, sales tax 4%, dealer fees $799. Is the taxable amount
35,000 or 35,799?

I would not pay the dealer fees. Tell them to pound sand.

Keep in mind that this is a buyers market now. You have the upper hand as there are lots of sellers but few buyers these days. I would use the Blue Book value as a starting point and then go down from there. Make them work for your business!

@ F_O_R. I appreciate the tips, and would just walk away if they wont budge. For my own knowledge I would still like to know how the amount is taxed though. Thank you for the fast replies!
