Can I put a 4.0 from a 97 ranger in an 02 ranger?

I have a 2002 ford ranger xl 4.0 with a blown engine
with a 97 ranger 4.0 work in the 2002

Possible with the 97 engine wire harness and 97 comp. Should be able to work if you use this

OBD2 originated in the "96 model year. It evolved pretty quickly, so the "02 might be significantly different. So even with the "97 engine, along with the computers and modules, it might not pass smog.

Those are different engines. The 97 should be a push rod V6 and the 02 is the Exploder OHC disaster. Not compatible!
