Why doe car guru show listings all over the country when I search for listings 50 miles from my zip code?

I want to narrow my search to listings 50 miles from my zip code but I keep
getting shown listings from all over the country?

A lot of national brands pay Cargurus for better visibility. For instance I get Carvana and Vroom ads when the vehicles are not even close to me. They probably want to show more options, and it's one of the profit centers for Cargurus.
