Engine and transmission replacement from 1995 K2500 into my 1998 K2500

Asked by datunk Oct 18, 2019 at 03:31 PM

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I recently bought a 1995 454 and 4L80e out of a GMC
K2500 with less miles and under 12,000 miles on the trans
rebuild to put in my 1998 K2500 with same motor and
trans. Will I need to replace the '98 ECM with the '95 ECM
as well? Anything else I need to swap out? Thanks

You will have problems due to the older engine being OBD1 and the 98 truck being OBD2.
