2008 Mercury in a 2008 Ford Escape

All I would like to know is the starters the same on the
Mercury and the Ford.. I have a 2008 Mercury and it will
not crank

A Mercury what? Mariner? as long as the two vehicles have the same engine, then yes. 2.3L vs 3.0L. 2005 to 2011 are compatible, even the Mazda Tributes.
