2006 mercury mountaineer transmission issue.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2006 Mercury Mountaineer which
will not reverse.  The drive works fine but
when you put in reverse it will not move.  It
only has about 80,000 miles and is in
reasonable shape.  Should I sell it or replace
the transmission?

well transmission will probably cost you around 25-3500 in comparison to the loss of value with a non working trans and the car payments you will gain...seems like fixing the trans better idea

Really depends on the shape of the rest of the vehicle and how much you like it. If it has been a good vehicle, I would think about keeping it. A friend of mine has a Mountaineer with close to 200,000 miles on it. Get a few estimates to replace the transmission and decide.
