Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I’ve been driving a brand new 2019 rx 350 for 10
months. There was leaking from dashboard to
passenger front seat floor. Brought it to the dealer
and AC line was clogged. The cost to repair is
$10,700!!! Thank goodness insurance is covering it
but they still want me to pay $300 deductible. This
seems outrageous! It’s a brand new car! I would
love some feedback from car professionals. Thx!

How is this an insurance issue? This should be covered under the factory warranty. I would complain directly to Lexus about this, maybe they will cover the deductible too.

Thx for your response. It was covered under the comprehensive part of my insurance. They said the ac line wasn’t covered under factory warranty. I think it was a defective part given I’ve only been driving locally & highway for 10 months!! I plan to fight the deductible. The car should be ready for pick up by the end of the week.

Had the exact same thing with my 2017 Lexus RX 350. Dealership charged me $6200. Had to pay a $250 comprehensive deductible.

I had the same problem in my 2017 RX. It cost my insurance company $4000 to replace the carpet and floor mats, dehumidify the car and sand and paint the floor. I seem to have the same problem now in my 2019 RX and if it's the A/C condensate drain again I'm going to raise hell with the dealer. When I get it serviced I always have them blow out the A/C drain to make sure it doesn't happen again. They know about the problem and have a fix to prevent it, so why isn't the fix being done on every new car either on the assembly line or at the dealer.?

I had the same problem with both my 2017 and 2019 RX 350. The cost to repair the damage was almost $10,000 for both cars. Lexus refused to honor their warranty saying it was a maintenance issue. I told them I had done the maintenance when I got the cars serviced at the dealership because I told them to blow out the A/C drain line when I dropped the cars off. Lexus didn't seem to care about any of it. The thing is they know about the problem because they have a fix for it. They can install a bug cap on the end of the condensate drain that contains an insecticide that supposedly prevents spiders and other critters from gettin into the drain line. I've dealt with the same salesman through12 years and four cars. Today he called about selling me another one and I told him my tale of woe. He said he'll see what he can do to make it right, but I don't hold out much hope.
