2017 ram 1500 hemi

when the check engine light comes on the truck idles rough, it drives normally if
im just cruising around but if i give it some gas like to get on the interstate it will
downshift then only go to 3500 rpm  and wont shift unless i let off the gas, it will
do that through all the gears. but if i ease on the gas not getting into it it will shift
just fine. if i disconnect the battery it resets the cel for about a day or so.

Have the trouble codes read to know what is wrong. The CEL is not the cause, it is the messenger!

i had the codes read once but they said that it didnt say exactly what it was just what it could be. which was about 5 different sensors to other issues in the engine. it just had the lifters replaced on the passenger side and the driver head had to be replaced. its a work truck and the guy that had it before me tried to kill it i guess. only has 43000 on it.

Without the codes you can only guess. Read them again and write them down.
