4 wheel drive low

Asked by Joe Jan 11, 2020 at 02:01 PM about the Dodge Durango

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I used my 2001 Dodge Durango with AWD to pull another vehicle.  I put it in 4
WD Low.  When I finished it would not go back to AWD.  If I turn the switch for
AWD it just blinks and remains in AWD low.

Sounds like the transfercases shift motor is stuck, get a small hammer or rock and lightly tap on the motor while someone switches the knob to the AWD setting, if it runs and switches then you know you need a new motor assembly, if it doesn’t then you need to test the circuits to make sure you are getting the right signals from the 4X4 shift module and the wiring is good.
